Since when and why do you participate as an author in our HOsiHO collection?
I joined the collection by the end of 2017. I was looking for an agency on a human scale to broadcast my aerial videos in France but also abroad.
What do you like about creating aerial images?
As soon as I take a picture, I try to confuse the viewer by proposing new points of view or lights he is not used to seeing. When the image is made in ULM or Helicopter, the shooting itself provides a boost of adrenaline amplified when weather conditions bring you beautiful lights.
Where are you from ? How did you come to drone?
I am from Brest and decided to launch my drone activity to diversify my images in Finistère and propose new points of view on known places. Only the drone can give you this flexibility in the points of view: at the water's edge, in the middle of pebbles, etc.
Do you have a background in audiovisual creation ?
I'm a photographer at the beginning but I'm starting to get more and more interested in video.
For you, a drone is ...?
A tool to discover new points of view and intrigue the viewer.
Do you shoot aerial shots differently? Did you do it before? With what vectors and for how long?
I take shots in microlight and helicopter sometimes.
Do you consider yourself today as a passionate "stock-shooter"?
Yes of course even if I do not have the mentality of shooting stock at any price. I seek above all to please myself and achieve new things.
Tell us how you organize a day of aerial shooting ?
Everything begins with a detailed analysis of the terrain during a tracking to define the interesting points of view on a lighthouse for example. Then comes the period of administrative demands that can sometimes be very long. On the day, if the weather is satisfactory in terms of light and wind, the drone flies. I work very little in command and prefer to choose myself the points of view that I wish to immortalize.
How did you get the idea of creating images to sell the rights? Do you think this is a lucrative business in the long term?
First and foremost, I create images for the viewer, then the sale of rights happens. This improves equipment and funds "photo" trips.
Your online portfolio is impressive ! How long did it take to build it ?
Thanks, that's nice. For the aerial photo part, my first images date from 2012 in ULM over Mont Saint-Michel which triggered this mad desire to see the world from above. For the video part, the portfolio is only at its beginning, I have a great project of aerial photography in Brittany but also in France in the coming years.
Your next shooting projects, trips?
I would love to take a tour of Brittany in drone but also a tour of Brittany ULM to enjoy the fresh waters yet so turquoise of the region.
A big thank you to HOsiHO and Sami for allowing me to spread my images and be very available to any questions. This is really what I was looking for as proximity to the big Stock Agencies.
And finally, France is so beautiful from the sky that the aerial shots have beautiful days ahead!
Your favorite shot ?
This one #003943: This moment was just incredible at sunrise in the bay amidst the fog banks. The complexity of the steps to be taken to fly legally has made the moment even more beautiful!
Thank you Mathieu for your answers and congratulations for your fantastic artwork !
