Situated on the Indochinese peninsula, Laos is a country in Southeast Asia with a population of 7.5 million people. Its territory of 236,800 km2 is landlocked and has no access to the sea. It shares borders with Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and China.
The capital of the Lao People's Democratic Republic is the city of Vientiane. It is bathed by a tropical climate with two seasons, a dry and a wet season characterized by monsoons.
A mountainous country and high plateaus
The geography of Laos is characterized by mountains and high plateaus that occupy nearly three-quarters of its surface. The country is crossed by the Mekong River. The exploitation of the river's hydroelectric potential represents an economic stake for the country and a major source of foreign exchange since the electricity produced is largely exported to neighboring countries.

Vientiane

Continue your discovery of the Lao Buddhist religious heritage by going to Vat Phra Keo. Sumptuous but less ostentatious, this temple is a visit not to be missed.
Luang Prabang
Located at the foot of the mountains on the banks of the Mekong River, Luang Prabang is a city full of charm. Former royal capital, it is also a former colonial city that has preserved its colorful houses and pedestrian streets. To admire the city, climb the steps leading to the top of Phu Si mountain. You will be able to admire from the top of your promontory the temples of Wat Mai Suwannaphumaham and Wat Xieng Thong before going there to visit them.
Vat Phou
Located in southern Laos near the town of Champassak, the archaeological site of Vat Phou is an unparalleled testimony of Khmer architecture. This vast religious complex was built, between the 9th and 12th centuries, as a figuration of Paradise on Earth. The "Temple of the Mountain" occupies a vast space and consists of various buildings built at the foot of Phu Kao Mountain.
